Liability.......

Assalamualaikum and hi, it would the 5th entry or 4th,

I'm in the middle of the study ween and this is it, I'm writing an entry. The place where you can actually expresss your feeling your own diary. Intentionally, wanted others to read it too. ^_^

Tomorrow, will be the OSCE exam for the TRIAD (ENT, ophtal and anaest). So many to upload in mind before 0900 tomorrow. Hope it will be easy as uploading the Intersect 2.0 or windows for mobile 6.5 or new windows 7. If it getting easy like that, the bittersweet life of medical student will not exist anymore. No bedtime story to tell to your kids then.

I am the big fan of english series movies and Chuck strikes me the most. When you choose to be a doctor, it is a lifetime job that you will attach to. It is not like other job that you change the prospective at any time. They even have their own medical oath, islamic version and hipocratic oath as well. Not much different, but it shows that the profession is actually a sacred profession. All your emotions, behaviors and almost everything are attached to that.

It is not just a job that you will get a salary at the end of it, but kind of satisfaction, at the end of the day. At least if you can come out with differential diagnosis and principle of treatment, and the most important thing, you yourself as a remedy to their sickness.

Another issue would be L.O.V.E issue. I start to think that is is good to keep everything deep down to yourself than compromising your own liability. It doesn't mean that you run away from it, because run away means hurting yourself. Thus, apply some knowledge of psychiatry, supression and repression defense mechanism, forget everything. At least, imagine that tomorrow is your first day of housemanship, are well prepared for it?

Feeling will just jeopardize everything. Score for the exam and make your parents proud of who you are. At least, changing you diapers and feeding you at 3 am will be worth. ^^

That is all for now. Need to continue uploading. See ya.

Adios amigos...If you don't take a shot, you won' score, so take a shot and score it.

One hug means thousand to them...^^v

Remember when we first hug by our parents? Of course You can't. I'll pay for those who can still remember that sweetest memory. (*_*)

4 weeks duration in psychogeriatric clinic teach me a lot of how can I take over my parents role of taking care me until what I am now to take care of them when they reach their golden years. Prof. Ros always remind us of increase our frequency of calling our parents, as we do not know when they are feeling lonely or in much better word 'missing' you......

They will never tell you to come home or call them regularly or state that "you must call me every 2 hours" for example.

I would like to share some of the knowledge about psychogeriatric problem. In a simplify version of course.

Most of the patients came to the clinic, diagnosed with dementia either Dementia of Alzheimer-Type or Vascular Dementia which is most likely caused by stroke. Post-stroke event. The prognosis is better is Vascular Dementia compared to Alzheimer in etiology.

Today I went to the Alzheimer Care Centre in Taman Seputeh. We actually went there for pre-visit for our community project. Then, one of the caregiver there asked one question of epidemiology, among all races in Malaysia, why there so many chinese people get Dementia?

Then, we came to the conclusion that chinese people do take it serioulsy. It is a good sign though. When I reflect back, yea, Malay people they tend to normalize everything. 'Normalizing symptoms'. Oh, tu nyanyuk je tu, biaselah.

Quite sad to hear that. They will just only seek for treatment when the conditions deteriorating. As in Dementia, there is a term called BPSD (Behavioral Physiological Symptoms of Dementia), why I'm saying that. When the patient presented with these symptoms, they will be agitated, restless, wandering around and even accompanied with psychotic symptoms such as delusion and hallucination. Where the 'disorganized behaviour' comes around and started to disturb the family members.

What actually can we conclude from that?.....Public education about this disease is very poor and seems that they perceive this thing as normal to aging, which is actually not. For instance, when the patients first presented with apathy emotion (dulled emotion) where they become so quiet and undisturb as compared to agitated patient.

Once they reach this kind of disease, they will turn out to a child-like behavior. If we can just think rationally, why can't we take care of them same as they bring us up until what we are now. Bath, feed, entertain and love them. What they need are just a hug from us...not money to repay them back.....

It is not easy to do and I do realize it. But, I do think that we all should think that now, not waiting until we reach that time. Do not wait a 'suitable time' to call them, or to go back home.

Maybe, right now, when you are reading this entry, they are missing you a lot. Take a phone and call or skype them so that thay can see us.

That's all for now. Hee.....

What is FAMILY???

I ran into a stranger as he passed by, "Oh excuse me please" was my reply. He said, "Please excuse me too; I wasn't watching for you". We were very polite and went on our way and we said goodbye.
But at home, how we treat our loved ones. Later that day, cooking the evening meal, My son stood beside me very still. When I turned, I nearly knocked him down. "Move out of the way," I said with a frown. He walked away, his little heart broken. I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.
"While dealing with a stranger, common courtesy we use, but the family we love, we seem to abuse”.
Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family we left behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.
And .... ... come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than into our own family, an unwise investment indeed, don't you think ?

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?
FAMILY = (F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU

Love is...
